Chichime Cays, San Blas and Another Channel Evening

I'm sitting here watching the sun come up and paint the clouds in the western sky an amazing shade of pink coral. They're drifting over the face of a nearly full moon. Ah, what a sight!

Last night it was equally beautiful watching the full moon rise over the water and islands. And it was another Channel Lock evening...Yup, another crab dinner! Three whole bucks for a 5 lb crab that can feed 2 or more. Forget about using some dinky nut crackers to get through the claws on these babies! Nope! Use the biggest pair of Channel Locks that you've got and be prepared to squeeze hard! But the reward is well worth it. Yum, I love those crabs!

The Chichime Cays are a very popular anchorage. There's about a dozen boats here, and it's not hard to see why. You've got a great view looking out onto the reefs and you're surrounded by 2 little palm tree covered islands with white sand beaches. It's beautiful! The Kuna Indians on the islands are very friendly too. Some even speak a little English!

Competition to be the first dugout to get to a newly anchored boat is fierce. As Stormy Petrel was dropping anchor there were 2 dugouts poised, paddles in the air, waiting for that chain to get down. As soon as it was they were racing to grab onto the gunnels and display their wears. It was pretty funny. I would have loved to have had a picture of it.

Speaking of which, Genesis Camera has been jerking me around big time. I ordered my camera last Friday and they were supposed to have shipped that day or Monday at the latest. Now they're saying that they'll ship Thursday, a week later... What a lying bunch of scum bags! But it's soooo difficult to transact any business down here. Oh well...
