Ahoy from the crew of the BlueJacket!
I'm happy to report that Sue is recovering very well. It's been three weeks since her surgery and she's getting better every day. Today was her first day as a freed woman (she got to drive herself) and she took advantage of it by getting her hair cut. As you should be able to tell, she's well on her way to a good recovery. She won't win any foot races, but she's doing great.
I'm getting ready to head back to BlueJacket to get her ready to move. On Friday I'll fly to Newport News, VA and then drive to Deltaville, where BlueJacket is impatiently waiting for me. Hopefully all of the work that was supposed to be done is completed and is done correctly. I'll spend the weekend finishing up some work that I need to do and then on Monday we'll relaunch her and put the mast back in. Then I've got to get the sails back on, new dodger (cockpit windows) installed and check out all of the systems by Wednesday, which is when Bill Spires flys in to help me move the boat. If all goes well, we'll depart on Thursday for NY.
Our plans are to head up the Chesapeake, head down the Delaware bay and work our way along the coastline to NY City. From NYC we'll head up the Hudson river to Ossining, NY which is about 5 miles past the Tappan Zee bridge. This is about a 350 mile trip, and if all goes well, we should get there on July 2nd. Bill's wife is going to fly in and they'll spend the 4'th of July weekend on the boat and enjoy NYC. I'll rent a car and drive home where I'll finish up any last minute jobs around home. Then Sue & I will drive back and we'll depart from the marina sometime around the 9th of July. From there we'll continue up the Hudson to the Erie Canal to Lake Ontario and then down the St. Lawrence river. Then it's on to Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and the trip back down the eastern seaboard to RI. Let's just cross our fingers and hope that all of the systems restart OK and that the weather cooperates.
As my previous mail stated, I've implemented a new e-mail system for the web site and the logs. The mail that you receive now should look just like it does on the web site. If this e-mail isn't formatted properly, please let me know what looks wrong and what you're using to read it. Note that the "new" Yahoo mail doesn't format paragraphs properly, but the "old" one works fine.
Since we probably won't be seeing many of you before we leave, have a wonderful summer!
