It was another beautiful sail to Carenero, which is another island in Los Roques. The winds were just like yesterday (15-20 on the beam) and we steamed into here.
The
anchorage at Carenero is horseshoe shaped, with reefs on both sides of the
entrance. They have mooring balls here as most of the anchoring spots are 30+
deep, but I chose to anchor as I was wary of the maintenance of the moorings.
Ken, from Stormy Petrel has been having trouble with his dinghy anchor, and
couldn't get it to grab when we went snorkling. Mine seemed to grab well, so he
tied onto my dinghy. We were off snorkling when they saw the dinghies take off.
I guess that they were barely making headway on them when their anchor snagged
something. That was very lucky that they weren't moving fast. However, it wouldn't come up and I had to go get
my dive gear to free it. It was stick between 2 coral heads & there was no
way that pulling would ever have gotten it up.
Spent the afternoon ripping out the seems on the spinaker as Bonnie said that
she could repair it.
We attacked by mosquitos in the morning. The wind had died and they were out for
a feast. Today (11/2) it's on the Cayo De Agua.
