If the maps makes it look like we're in the middle of nowhere, it's because we are.  Monjes del Sur is literally 2 large hunks of rock where Venezuela has a coast guard station (although they don't have a boat with an engine). They closed the gap between the rocks with fill and have a 150' long, 1.5" rope strung between them to which you tie a line. Not having faith in their attachment line, we tied our own safety line, which was good as their line broke some time during the night! The Coast Guard is very friendly & the view from the lighthouse was very nice. However, this is not a place where I'd like to spend a 30 day tour of duty! I joked with the Lt. who came aboard to check our papers about what he had done to get posted here!

The winds continue to treat us nicely. Had a great sail with 15-20 kts about 30 degrees off the port stern. We did 7-8 kts all of the way. We got pasted a bit when we came along the face of the rocks and had 25+ kts winds on the beam as well as 6-8' seas.
