Nevis,
which is governmentally part of St. Kitts, is only a few miles away.
Basseterre and Charlestown (Nevis) are only 12 miles apart, but are hugely
distant in touch and feel. Charlestown is clean and very friendly. Lots of
nice art galleries and a quaint old feel. However, don't every hire their
road construction crew to pave anything for you unless you like that "Magic
fingers" feel as you drive.
The anchorage near Charlestown (Pinney Beach) is absolutely outstanding. You look out at a palm tree lined sandy beach with Mt. Nevis rising in the background. WOW! What a view, especially after Basseterre!
